I visited Naoshima in October 2006.

Art object of the big pumpkin in the shore...

Art museum hidden in the underground of the hill...

Neighboring house is an art work....

Art melts into Life of this town.

When the 12 artists was making preparations for ' NAOSHIMA STANDARD 2 '

- the exhibition that assumed the whole island to be the stage - ,

a person of the town said

" I'd like Mr.ISHIKAWA's work to exist in Naoshima in this time. "

I received this request and decided on unofficial independence participating in the exhibition.

It was fun that an art work not placing on any official information surprise the visitors.

Moreover,

my action was welcomed by the people of the island and Benesse - the sponsor of the exhibition, too.

My work seemed to be got close to all here.

I drew drawing with yarn on outside concrete wall of ' Rose cosmetic store '.

Here is benches anyone can take a rest.

I hear everyone has gathered here without particular promises since a long time ago

and this place has been called " Icchoba ".

Actually various people spoke me during making my work.

We can say the key word is ' gathering '.

Coming here, meeting something, someone, and going somewhere.

What will you see? Where will you go?

I drew drawing of a boy.

At the same time, his figure may be all of you gathering here.

Reproduction of the polluted soil, revival of the rice growing,

collection, restoration of dissipative the stone Buddhist images, and so on.

There are such actions in this island, too.

They can show us small specific examples that join the lost bond together.

What do you want to see?

I do send you a precious word ' HOPE '.

Why not visit Naoshima?

Thank you.
