YUKARI ART is delighted to announce you that  Shintaro OHATA's solo exhibition " I met a cat when I wanted to vanish." will be held at Shibuya Hikarie/8 CUBE from 5th through 10th of April, 2025.

This exhibition will be the culmination of Ohata's unique creative style, combining painting and sculpture to create one piece of artwork. He has been working on this style for nearly 20 years since 2006.

What prompted Ohata to start this unique technique was a setback he experienced in his painting career.  At that time, he could not tell why he painted nor what he wanted to paint. After looking back on the path he had taken for a while, he realized that he had a pure desire to share the scenery that he found beautiful by painting. By shifting his focus from "painting" to "communicating," Ohata was able to free himself from the framework of "painting". After pondering over a way of expression that only Ohata could do, he came up with his current technique.

The series of work featuring a cat and girl including "I met a cat when I wanted to vanish" which became the title of the exhibition  depicts Ohata's journey to discover his own paintings.

Please enjoy the scenery created by painting and sculpture, and the story behind it as well.

This exhibition is also one of the commemorative exhibitions for the 20th anniversary of the founding of YUKARI ART. We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude for your support and encouragement over the years.

11 works will be displayed including 9 brand new works and 2 works retouched for the show.

We look forward to seeing you at the exhibition.
